NUTRITION GAME-CHANGER : WATER
I have been consulting for a company in Seattle the past few weeks and am working one-on-one with their employees. In one of my sessions, I asked a client how much water they're drinking per day and they said 2 glasses... a month. I'm sure you can imagine my face when they said that. Probably something like this...
There are two things that are WAY more important than what you're eating. They are how you are eating, and drinking enough water. If you're only drinking diet coke while eating your kale salad in front of your computer screen at lunch, it might as well be a Big Mac. Here are some of the benefits of drinking water...
Aids in weight loss
It keeps digestion moving
Improves portion control at meals
Clears skin and reduces breakouts
Improves mood
Prevents headaches
Fights fatigue
Increases alertness
Helps to clear toxins from body
Boosts immune system
May protect against certain cancers
Do you need any more reasons?! Water works miracles. Drink it. Love it. Appreciate it. Aim for half of your body weight daily in ounces or more. I have a 32oz jar that I have with me at all times and fill 3-4 times a day, getting 64oz of that in before noon. You can also throw some lemon slices in your water bottle to add a bit of flavor if you don't love plain water. Keeping your water intake high is the single-best method for easily saying no to that afternoon sugar binge. Once you become a water devotee, you will feel the difference everywhere. How you sleep, making healthier food choices, feeling more energetic, having more stamina in your workouts... try it and see how it goes! Have a wonderful week and drink that water!
Love,
Leslie
